Using a CRM lets your really understand what customers are doing with your website, emails, videos, and products \u2013 and by knowing their behavior, you can make strategic decisions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is a CRM?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCRM\u201d stands for \u201cCustomer Relationship Management\u201d. It\u2019s software that lets you monitor and track monitor each step of the customer journey. What are people doing on your website? How are they interacting with your business? What are they clicking on, watching, or ignoring? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also creates a database of your contacts and customers, which integrates with different facets of your marketing: websites (have people filled out forms or purchased products?); email (have they opened or responded to them?); sales calls (have they asked for more info or do you need to follow up?). Knowing all this information gives you the power to know exactly what to do next. You can also have information automatically sifted into specific categories or lists. The filters can be applied to contacts \u2013 you can look for specific qualities like \u201cowners\/ownership\u201d, \u201cfilled out form [specific form]\u201d, \u201cwatched webinar\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SaaS Platforms<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSoftware as a Service\u201d is software distribution from a third-party provider \u2013 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/searchcloudcomputing.techtarget.com\/definition\/Software-as-a-Service\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they host applications<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and then make them available to customers on the Internet. SaaS allows data to be accessed from any device as long as it has an Internet connection \u2013 it\u2019s the \u201cCloud\u201d. Software vendors host the application, and customers can access and use it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHubSpot\u201d and \u201cSalesforce\u201d have been drivers within the CRM space. Both are examples of SaaS platforms. As vendors, they create CRM software, host it online, and customers buy the CRM software and integrate it into their marketing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HubSpot is powerful because it shows every detailed piece of behavioral data. As stated earlier, CRM really allow you to understand exactly what a customer does, each step of the way, so that you can make more strategic marketing decisions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can see if someone clicked \u201cContact Us\u201d or \u201cRSVP\u201d, went to a landing page, but then didn\u2019t fill out the form. Because the CRM provides this information, you can now re-asses that landing page \u2013 why didn\u2019t they fill it out? Was it too complicated? Unclear about how their information would be used? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can make decisions or re-evaluate based on the customer\u2019s behavior, which is tracked by CRMs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How About An Example?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ll do you one better \u2013 here are two examples:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You utilized an email marketing campaign (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dubb.com\/blog\/why-you-should-use-videos-in-email-campaigns\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">integrated with a video, of course<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and were able to use a CRM to gather data about everyone who opened and read the email. One business owner in particular catches your attention. Due to the CRM, you know she: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read the email and watched the video. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clicked through to the home landing page and then the \u201cLearn More\u201d tab<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chose to download the free eBook <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Received the automatic confirmation email that the download was complete<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Was emailed about an upgrade opportunity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clicked that link that but did not upgrade \u2013 giving you the signal to re-asses that page, to make changes that may encourage people to upgrade in the future. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You sent her an invitation to a conference<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She RSVP\u2019d and attended the conference<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submitted for another eBook <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You decide to throw a party thank customers and to showcase products. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You send the invitation to 1000 people<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">300 people opened and read the email <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You send a follow-up to the other 700 people \u2013 and rather than individually emailing them, HubSpot allows you to single out and email them all at once, asking if they\u2019re interested in the party<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another 150 people read the follow-up email and click for more information<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 additional people RSVP and they receive automatic confirmations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You see which pages of your website everyone reads, and that some of them fill out contact forms<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the contact forms are from \u201cbusiness owners\u201d while others are from \u201cmarketing consultants\u201d.
